Our Approach

About Pollen.

Whether designing or tending to gardens, we lean towards a path-of-least-disruption approach. We take into consideration plant health and function within both the immediate and broader ecosystems, the final aesthetic result, as well as the needs and desires of the people who will be enjoying and interacting within these spaces.

We want our clients to be able to enjoy their gardens in their own way, and for those gardens to thrive and evolve for years to come. Sometimes this comes easily and with minimal effort, and other times it takes careful observation, intentional changes and time for the dream to become reality. In any case, we are committed to bringing these visions to life and caring for all of our gardens on a personal level.

Our People

Saisie and Julia met while working for a small gardening company in Kennebunkport, ME. After a few seasons apart, they reconnected during an afternoon sail in Casco Bay and came to the decision to start Pollen.

Together they have over 28 years of garden care and design experience, spanning from England to New England. They share a love of plants, a natural approach, a whimsical aesthetic and a love of the ocean.

They are joined by Evelyn, who brings years of fine gardening experience from her home island of Nantucket and a mastery of container design, and Sam, whose passion for native, medicinal and edible plants is unrivaled.
